AI-assisted Art
Where Oil Paints Weave Algorithmic Dreams
AI Art as a Rebellious Muse: A creative universe where oil paints meet artificial intelligence and ethical questions become as vibrant as the color palette. From deconstructed anatomy to reimagined color spectra, I embrace the inspiring and sometimes disturbing dialogue with technology.

The Metamorphosis Through AI Art: A Personal Insight
My journey into the world of AI-assisted art has triggered a profound metamorphosis in my artistic practice. The symbiosis of traditional painting techniques and AI-assisted processes has transformed my artistic practice and inspired me to reflect on my own definition of aesthetics.
Aesthetics at the Intersection of Organic and Technological
Collaborating with AI models like GPT-4 and Midjourney challenges my own notions of beauty and perfection. AI art has shown me how aesthetically pleasing a twisted body with three arms or six fingers on one hand can be. More important to me than painting figuratively ‘correctly’ are the color scheme and the composition.
In AI art, a unique confrontation between the organic and the technological takes place, which goes far beyond mere instrumentalization of technology. On one side stands traditional painting, which is organic, sensual, and deeply rooted in human experience. On the other side stands AI, a product of human intellect, yet independent in its execution and ability to create new aesthetic realities. These contrasts are not merely juxtaposed in my work but interwoven to create a new aesthetic that transcends the boundaries of both media. It is the interplay of color, texture, and form that opens up a third, previously unexplored dimension of aesthetics.
The Creative Process: Collaboration with AI Models
In my creative process, I work closely with GPT-4 to develop concepts that I then translate into oil paintings with the help of the generative designer AI Midjourney. Occasionally, I have Midjourney make adjustments to my paintings based on its vast repository of human images. I am aware of the ethical questions that arise from the use of these images, particularly concerning the rights and compensation of the original artists.
AI Art Between Fascination and Criticism
The fusion of art and AI grants me access to an almost infinite reservoir of human knowledge and creativity. At the same time, I am aware of the limitations of AI—yet fascinated by the emerging and future possibilities.
My AI-assisted art raises questions posed by dealing with AI—and demands that we use these new technical possibilities responsibly. My AI art shows that not only can a form of harmony between human and artificial intelligence be achieved, but that this collaboration can be extremely fruitful and helpful.
As a socially conscious artist, I am, of course, aware of the energy needs of AI models. I try to reconcile these contradictions within myself by acknowledging the dual nature of AI. Despite its energy consumption, AIs promise to support us in the fight against social inequality and the climate crisis.
I strive to use AI not only as an artistic tool but also as a partner to discuss these contradictions and find engaging ways to pose these questions to society.
AI Art as an Unlimited Canvas
With my AI-assisted art, I venture to the intersection of technology and human creativity, of algorithms and emotions. These works are not only a testament to my own creative process but also a reflection of the complex relationship we all have with the increasing technologization of our lives. They challenge us to think about the ethical, aesthetic, and social implications of these technologies. While critics might question the authenticity or artistic value of AI-assisted art, one thing is clear to me: The canvas remains a space for unlimited possibilities, and the color palette has only just begun to expand.
