Klimakleber (Climate Activists) Saving the World

„Klimakleber“ is a political painting that radically focuses on the urgency of the global climate crisis. The young figure stands in front of a threatening, burning scene that is reminiscent of blazing forest fires, melting poles and dried-out areas. This reduced, incomplete depiction of the face, the deliberately fragmentary coloring and the deliberately chosen blurring of the surroundings are not aesthetic coincidences: they aim to take viewers out of their comfort zone and convey a feeling of unrest, but also of responsibility.

In conjunction with the term “Klimakleber” – a controversial term for climate activists who use drastic measures to draw attention to the rapid destruction of the environment – this work poses a confrontational question: How do we as a society react to those who resist the normalization of the crisis? The image refrains from taking clear sides, but calls for a confrontation with the moral and political dimension of our actions. Instead of pleasing decoration, “climate sticker” offers an impetus to go beyond comfortable ignorance and to critically question one’s own relationship to the climate crisis.

This work is part of my artistic approach, which focuses on politically explosive topics. By working with artificial intelligence, I draw on a diverse reservoir of knowledge and inspiration to find new visual languages that make political conflicts visible. “Climate Sticker” is intended to appeal not only to art lovers, but also to politically active people, journalists, students and anyone who does not shy away from uncomfortable questions.
